The SPED 161 covers the knowledge required for a Texas Special Education certification:

- Promoting student achievement in reading, math, and other content areas
- Working with families, colleagues, and the broader community
- Professional roles and responsibilities specific to special education
Expect heavy emphasis on IEPs, federal law (IDEA), and instructional adaptations across grade bands.
